The right HubSpot alternative for small business depends on which part of HubSpot you'd be replacing. If you need a sales pipeline with deal values and forecasts, pick a pipeline-first sales CRM. If you want endless customization, pick a large suite. If the real problem is paying per seat for everyone who touches a customer, and you'd like sales, support tickets and project work in one place, pick a flat-rate all-in-one CRM. Argento CRM is the last kind: $25 a month for up to 10 users.
Most people searching for a HubSpot alternative for small business aren't unhappy with HubSpot's software. They're unhappy with the invoice after they add a third, fifth or eighth person, or with the jump in price when they need one feature from the next tier. So this guide doesn't rank twelve logos. It sorts the options by the job you're hiring them for, shows the cost math with numbers checked against HubSpot's own pricing page, and is upfront about what you give up by leaving.
Why small teams go looking for an alternative to HubSpot
First, credit where it's due. HubSpot's free CRM is generous for one or two people, the interface is polished, the app marketplace is huge, and the marketing tools on the paid Hubs are strong. Plenty of small businesses should stay (more on that below).
The friction almost always comes from the pricing structure. As of September 2026, HubSpot's Sales Hub pricing page lists:
- Free: $0 for up to 2 users.
- Starter: $20 per seat per month on monthly billing, less on annual. HubSpot was also running a new-customer discount on Starter when we checked, so your first-year price may be lower.
- Professional: from $90 per seat per month billed annually ($100 monthly), plus a required one-time onboarding fee of $1,500.
- Enterprise: from $150 per seat per month billed annually, plus a one-time $3,500 onboarding fee.
None of that is unreasonable for what the higher tiers include. It just means the bill scales with headcount, and small service businesses tend to have lots of people who need to look something up but don't sell full time: the office manager, the technician, the project lead. On per-seat plans, each of them costs the same as your best salesperson. That's usually when teams start sharing logins, and a shared login is where CRM data quietly goes stale. (To compare any plan by cost per person who logs in, see our guide to cheap CRM software that isn't a compromise.)
HubSpot competitors, grouped by what you'd replace it with
Lists of companies like HubSpot tend to mix very different products. It's more useful to group HubSpot competitors into four types, then shortlist inside the type that matches how you work.
| Type | Examples | Good fit when | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pipeline-first sales CRMs | Pipedrive and similar (see our Pipedrive alternative guide if you're already on it) | You have dedicated salespeople who live in a deal board and want deal values, win rates and forecasts. | Usually priced per seat. Support tickets and project delivery live in other tools. |
| Large business suites | Salesforce, Zoho CRM | You want deep customization, many add-on apps, and someone on staff enjoys configuring software. | Setup time, admin overhead, and a price that depends heavily on which edition and add-ons you choose. |
| Simple contact managers | Lightweight single-purpose tools | You're solo or two people and mainly need a tidy address book with notes and reminders. | You'll likely outgrow them once you add support or a team. |
| Flat-rate all-in-one CRMs | Argento CRM | Everyone who touches a customer needs a login, and you want sales, support tickets, tasks and projects in one workspace. | Less marketing automation than HubSpot. Check each product's limits on deals and reporting. |
If Salesforce is also on your list, our guide to Salesforce alternatives for small business maps its records object by object and prices it for a twelve-person team. If you're coming from a marketing automation tool rather than HubSpot, our Keap alternative guide starts with an audit of which automations you actually use. If you're still deciding what kind of CRM you need at all, our no-hype buyer's guide to the best CRM for small business starts one step earlier, with five questions that narrow the field.
What makes a CRM similar to HubSpot (and why it matters for switching)
If you've used HubSpot for a while, your team thinks in its objects: companies, contacts, deals, tickets and tasks, with a lifecycle stage and a lead status on each contact. A CRM similar to HubSpot in that structure is much easier to move to, because your exported columns map across almost one-to-one and nobody has to relearn what a "ticket" is.
Argento uses the same core building blocks. Contacts carry industry, location, lifecycle stage, lead status and social profiles, and a contact can be linked to more than one company, which is handy for consultants and bookkeepers who work across several clients. Deals, support tickets (with subtasks) and tasks (with email reminders) all hang off the company record. Where it differs is breadth: it adds projects, documents with folders, a knowledge base and team chat in the same workspace, and it leaves out marketing automation.
The cost math: a seven-person team, year one
Say you run a seven-person IT support shop: two people selling, three technicians, a project coordinator and you. Everyone needs to see customer history, and the technicians work support tickets all day. Here's the first-year cost at list prices as of September 2026, before any promotional discount:
| Option | How it's calculated | Year-one cost |
|---|---|---|
| HubSpot Sales Hub Starter, monthly billing | 7 seats × $20 × 12 | $1,680 |
| HubSpot Sales Hub Professional, annual billing | 7 seats × $90 × 12 + $1,500 onboarding | $9,060 |
| Argento CRM Starter | $25 × 12, up to 10 users included | $300 |
| Argento CRM Growth (if you grow past 10 people) | $50 × 12, up to 50 users included | $600 |
That isn't an apples-to-apples feature comparison. HubSpot Professional includes sales automation and reporting that Argento doesn't offer, and if your team depends on those, the price may well be worth it. The point is narrower: when most of your logins are people who look things up and work tickets rather than people running sequences, per-seat pricing charges you full price for part-time use. Hire three more people and the HubSpot numbers rise by three seats; the Argento Starter number doesn't change until you pass 10 users.

What you give up leaving HubSpot, and what Argento does instead
Every switch is a trade. Here's the honest version for the most common HubSpot habits:
| If you use this in HubSpot | In Argento |
|---|---|
| Marketing workflows, if-then triggers, lead scoring | Not available. Automation is website form capture, email reminders on tasks and tickets, and scheduled email campaigns. |
| Deal amounts, win rates and revenue forecasts | Deals track name, description, company, amount, status, priority and due date, with a dollar total per stage. There are no win rates or revenue forecasts. |
| Marketing email | Campaigns send from your own mailbox with {{first_name}} merge fields, scheduled send, and open and click tracking, up to 50 emails per person per day with the rest continuing automatically on the following days. |
| Meeting scheduler and calendar sync | Not available. Use tasks with due dates and email reminders. |
| Help desk tickets | Support tickets with subtasks, status lists and reminders, on every plan. |
| Knowledge base | Built-in knowledge base on every plan. |
| A free plan | No free plan. 14-day free trial (card required), then from $25 a month. |
A few things Argento adds that HubSpot users often pay for elsewhere: projects, document folders and team chat (channels, direct messages and presence) inside the same workspace, and multiple workspaces on the Growth and Scale plans if you run more than one business. There's also an MCP server on every plan, so you can connect Claude and work your CRM in plain language. Our guide to connecting Claude, ChatGPT or Grok to your CRM covers how that works.
When you should stay on HubSpot
Switching costs a few hours and some goodwill with your team, so don't do it for a small saving. Stay if any of these describe you:
- You're one or two people and the free plan covers everything you need.
- Your lead flow depends on HubSpot's marketing workflows, landing pages or lead scoring, and rebuilding that elsewhere would take more time than the savings are worth.
- You forecast revenue from deal amounts in the CRM and your owner or investors look at those reports.
- You've built integrations on HubSpot's app marketplace that your operations now rely on.
If none of those apply and your bill is growing because of headcount, a HubSpot alternative is worth a two-week trial.
Switching from HubSpot in one afternoon
This is the order that avoids orphaned contacts and duplicate companies. Budget about three hours for a few thousand records.
- Export from HubSpot. Export companies, contacts, tickets and tasks as separate CSV files. HubSpot's export your records article covers the steps. Include the lifecycle stage, lead status and associated company columns.
- Clean before you import. Delete contacts with no email and no phone, merge obvious duplicate companies, and decide which lifecycle stages and lead statuses you'll keep. Fewer, clearer statuses beat a faithful copy of a messy list.
- Import companies first. In Argento, go to Settings → Data Management → Import Data, choose Companies, select your CSV, then Next: Map Fields. Set anything you don't need to Don't Import. The summary shows how many rows imported and why any were skipped, so you can fix and re-run them. Importing companies first means contacts have something to link to.
- Import contacts, then tickets and tasks. Same screen, one file at a time. If an import fails, nothing is saved, so you won't end up with half a list. The usual cause is the plan's record limit (10,000 companies and 10,000 contacts on Starter).
- Re-create open deals. The importer handles companies, contacts, tickets and tasks, not deals. If you only have a handful of open deals, add them by hand under Deals. If you have more, connect Claude through Settings → MCP Server (setup is in the Help Center), paste your list of open deals and ask it to create each one linked to the right company. Check the Recent activity log afterward.
- Point your website forms at Argento. Form capture works with Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, Ninja Forms, WPForms, Elementor and plain HTML forms, so new leads arrive as records without anyone copying them from an inbox.
- Invite the whole team. This is the step per-seat pricing used to make you skip. Starter includes up to 10 users.
- Run both for two weeks. Keep HubSpot read-only for the length of your trial. If something's missing, you'll find out while you can still export it again.
If it doesn't work out, leaving is just as simple: export everything as CSV (zip) or JSON at any time, and if you cancel, the workspace stays read-only and exportable for 30 days.
Five questions to put to any HubSpot alternative
Whichever of the HubSpot alternatives you shortlist, ask these on the demo or during the trial:
- What will this cost for our headcount today and at double our headcount, including onboarding fees?
- Can people who only look things up get a login without paying a full seat?
- Which of our HubSpot columns have no matching field, and where would that data go?
- Are support tickets and project work included, or is that another product?
- How do we get all of our data out if we leave, and for how long after cancelling?
You can see Argento's answers to the first two on the pricing section of the features page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best HubSpot alternative for a small business?
It depends on what you use HubSpot for. If you mostly need a sales pipeline with deal values and forecasting, look at pipeline-first sales CRMs. If you want deep customization, look at the big suites. If your whole team needs logins and you want sales, support tickets and project delivery in one place at a flat price, an all-in-one CRM like Argento is the closer fit.
Does HubSpot charge per user?
Yes, on its paid plans. As of September 2026, HubSpot's Sales Hub pricing page lists Starter at $20 per seat per month on monthly billing, Professional from $90 per seat per month on annual billing plus a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee, and Enterprise from $150 per seat per month plus a $3,500 onboarding fee. The free plan covers up to 2 users.
Is there a free alternative to HubSpot?
Several CRMs have free tiers, usually capped at a few users. HubSpot's own free plan is also a reasonable choice for one or two people. Argento CRM is not free; it has a 14-day free trial (card required) and then a flat $25 per month for up to 10 users.
Can I move my HubSpot data into Argento CRM?
Yes. Export your companies, contacts, tickets and tasks from HubSpot as CSV files, then import them in Argento under Settings, Data Management, Import Data, mapping each column to a field. Open deals can be re-created by hand or by asking a connected AI assistant such as Claude to create them from a list.
Does Argento have marketing automation like HubSpot?
No. Argento has no visual workflow builder, if-then triggers or lead scoring. Its automation is website form capture that creates records automatically, email reminders on tasks and tickets, and scheduled email campaigns sent from your own mailbox with open and click tracking. If you rely on HubSpot's marketing workflows, factor that in.
When should a small business stay on HubSpot?
Stay if you are one or two people happy on the free plan, if your marketing depends on HubSpot's workflows, landing pages and lead scoring, or if you need forecasting and revenue reporting built into the CRM.
