Grok CRM Integration: Connecting xAI's Assistant to Your CRM

Grok can read and update your customer records once your CRM is added as a custom connector. The setup takes minutes on a personal account and needs one admin step on a team account. Here are both paths, plus what to test before you trust it.

Short answer

A Grok CRM integration works through MCP. You add your CRM's MCP server URL as a custom connector at grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom, sign in with your CRM login, and Grok can then search and update your records in chat. On Grok Business or Enterprise there's one extra gate: an admin has to add the connector in xAI's console before anyone on the team can use it.

If you already use Grok and want it to answer "who haven't we called back this week?" from your real customer list, a Grok CRM integration is a ten-minute job, provided your CRM offers an MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard Grok uses to plug into outside apps. Your CRM publishes a list of actions, Grok discovers them, and you use them by asking in plain English.

This guide covers the two setup paths (personal account and team account), a five-minute test, what Grok can and can't touch in your CRM, and fixes for the errors people hit most. The steps use Argento CRM, but any CRM with a remote MCP server follows the same shape. If you're still deciding between assistants, our pillar guide on how to connect Claude, ChatGPT or Grok to your CRM compares all three.

Before you start: the two gates

Most failed setups come down to one of two things, and neither is the CRM. Check both first.

Can you use connectors at all?Yes. xAI's connectors documentation says connectors are available to all Grok users (as of October 2026).Yes, but only connectors an admin has added for the team.
Who adds the CRM connector? You, at grok.com/connectors.A team admin with Team Read-Write permissions, in console.x.ai.
Who signs in to the CRM?You, with your own CRM login. Each member, with their own CRM login, after the admin step.
Does the server need to be public?Yes. xAI says the MCP server must be reachable over the public internet. A hosted server like Argento's already is; a server running on someone's laptop is not.

One more thing to have ready: your CRM's connector URL. In Argento, open Settings, expand MCP Server, and select Copy next to https://app.argentocrm.com/mcp. Every plan includes it, starting with the $25 Starter plan, and there's no API key to create.

Grok CRM integration on a personal account

  1. Sign in at grok.com in a browser.
  2. Go to grok.com/connectors, select New Connector, then Custom.
  3. Paste the connector URL and give it a name you'll recognize, like "Argento CRM".
  4. A sign-in window opens. Enter the same email and password you use for Argento and approve the connection.
  5. Grok discovers the tools the server exposes. Start a new chat and ask, "What tools do you have from Argento CRM?" You should get back a list covering companies, contacts, tickets, tasks, projects, deals and knowledge base articles.

xAI announced in May 2026 that connectors are live on Grok web, iOS and Android, so once the connector exists you can use it from your phone. We'd still do the first setup in a browser. Sign-in pop-ups behave more predictably there, and it's easier to read what you're approving.

If sign-in gets interrupted (you closed the tab, or the pop-up was blocked), the connector can exist without being authorized. Open it again from grok.com/connectors and finish the sign-in rather than adding a second copy.

Setup on Grok Business or Enterprise

Team accounts split the job in two. The admin decides which connectors exist; each person still connects their own CRM account. That's a sensible design for a CRM, because it means nobody shares one login and the assistant only sees what each person can see.

The admin's part (once)

  1. Sign in to console.x.ai and select your team.
  2. Go to Grok Business → Connectors and select + Add Connector.
  3. Choose Other, enter https://app.argentocrm.com/mcp, and complete the authentication step.
  4. Use Configure if you want to limit which members can use it.

xAI's connector management page notes that adding and removing connectors needs Team Read-Write permissions, which are usually held by team admins. If you can't see the option, that's the reason.

Each member's part

  1. Go to grok.com/connectors. The Argento connector now appears in the list.
  2. Select it, sign in with your own Argento email and password, and approve.

On the Argento side there's nothing for an administrator to switch on. Each person's connection carries their own permissions, so a team member who isn't in your second workspace won't see it through Grok either.

The five-minute test before Grok changes anything

Ask questions you already know the answers to. If Grok gets them right, the connection is pointed at the right workspace and running as you.

  1. "Give me an overview of my Argento workspace." Compare the counts of companies, contacts, open tickets and open deals with your dashboard.
  2. "List the contacts at [a company you know well]." Check that nobody's missing.
  3. "Show tickets with status Open, oldest first." This confirms Grok is reading your workspace's own status list.
  4. "Create a task called 'Grok test' due tomorrow, assigned to me." Your first write. Find it in Argento under Tasks.
  5. "Mark the Grok test task as done." Then open Settings → MCP Server in Argento and look at the recent activity list. Both actions should be there.

That last step matters more than it looks. The activity log is how you'll check what Grok did on a busy day, so it's worth knowing where it lives before you need it.

What a CRM that works with Grok can do

Grok can only do what the CRM's MCP server allows. Here's how common requests map to Argento's tools, and where the answer is "not through chat."

You ask GrokWhat happens
"What's overdue, and what's due today?"Workspace summary: counts plus tasks due or overdue, open tickets, active projects and open deals.
"Pull everything on Cedar Point Dental before my call."Full company profile: the company plus every contact, ticket, task, project and deal attached to it, including deal amounts.
"Show contacts in Phoenix with lead status Connected."Filtered search using your own lead status values.
"Log a follow-up with Marisol at Cedar Point for Thursday."Creates a task linked to the contact by name, with a due date, so Argento sends the assignee an email reminder.
"Set the Cedar Point deal to $4,800 and move it to Proposal Sent."Updates the deal's amount and stage, as long as that stage exists in your pipeline.
"Add three subtasks to the onboarding project."Adds subtasks on the project. Subtasks also work on tickets and deals.
"Delete the duplicate contact."Can't. There's no delete tool in Argento's server, so deletes happen in the app.
"Send the March newsletter to all clients."Not through Grok. Email campaigns, Discover lead research, documents and team chat stay in the Argento app.
"Forecast next quarter's revenue."Grok can total open deal amounts by stage. Argento has no win probabilities or forecasts for it to read, so anything past that is Grok's guess.

Example: month-end at a three-person bookkeeping firm

Say you run a small bookkeeping practice with two staff and about 60 small-business clients. You use Grok for most of your writing already, and your client records live in Argento Starter. (This is an illustration, not a customer story.)

Monday, 8:10 a.m. From your phone, before you're at your desk: "Which clients have an open ticket about missing bank statements?" Grok returns five, with the oldest at 12 days. You now know who gets the first calls.

Monday, 8:40 a.m. At your desk: "For each of those five, create a task for Priya to call the main contact today, linked to the company." Grok creates five tasks. Priya gets email reminders without anyone opening the Tasks screen.

Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. A prospect from last week's referral asks for a quote. "Pull the full profile for Juniper Landscaping." You see the contact, the note from the intro call and an open deal with no amount. "Set the Juniper deal amount to $350 and add a subtask: send engagement letter." Done, without switching tabs.

Friday, 4:30 p.m. "Overview of the workspace. How many statement tickets are still open, and what's the open pipeline value by stage?" Two tickets left, and you can see the week's new proposals in one line. You close the remaining tickets yourself after checking the statements arrived.

None of this replaces your accounting software or your practice's judgment. It removes the clicking between screens, which on a month-end week is where follow-ups get lost.

Permissions, logs and how to switch it off

Giving any assistant write access to your customer list deserves a few minutes of thought. These are the controls on the Argento side:

On the Grok side, remember that what Grok reads from your CRM passes through xAI under your account's terms, so check your Grok data settings, especially on a team plan. Our help article on connecting an assistant to Argento covers revoking and reconnecting in more detail.

Is Grok the right assistant for your CRM?

Our honest view: pick the assistant your team already uses every day. The CRM connection is the same MCP server whichever one you choose, so there's no reason to switch assistants for it. If half the team prefers Claude, they can connect Claude to the same workspace under their own logins. Our Claude CRM integration guide and ChatGPT CRM integration guide cover those setups, including which ChatGPT plans can write to a CRM.

Grok makes the most sense if you're already in it for research and writing and want CRM lookups in the same window, or if you need the connection on your phone. It makes less sense as a reason to adopt a new CRM on its own. The integration is only as useful as the records underneath it, and if you want the mechanics of what's being exposed, our explainer on MCP servers for CRMs traces a request from chat to database.

If you're comparing CRMs for this, Argento includes the MCP server on every plan with users included: $25, $50 or $100 a month for up to 10, 50 or 100 users. See plans, or poke around the sample-data demo first. It needs no signup.

Frequently asked questions

Can Grok connect to my CRM?

Yes, if your CRM offers a remote MCP server. Add the server URL as a custom connector at grok.com/connectors, select New Connector and then Custom, and sign in with your CRM login. With Argento CRM the URL is https://app.argentocrm.com/mcp and there is no API key.

Do I need Grok Business for a Grok CRM integration?

No. As of October 2026, xAI says connectors are available to all Grok users. On Grok Business and Enterprise, a team admin must add the connector in the xAI console before members can connect their own accounts.

Does a CRM that works with Grok work on the Grok mobile app?

xAI announced in May 2026 that connectors are live on Grok web, iOS and Android. We recommend doing the first sign-in in a browser, then using the connector from any device.

Can Grok delete records in my CRM?

That depends on the tools the CRM's MCP server exposes. Argento's server has no delete tool, so Grok can search, create and update records but cannot remove anything.

Can Grok see CRM data I don't have access to?

No. With Argento, Grok acts as the signed-in person and can only reach workspaces and records that person can see in the app. Each team member connects with their own login.

What does a Grok CRM integration cost?

You pay for your Grok plan and your CRM separately. Argento CRM includes its MCP server on every plan, starting at $25 per month for up to 10 users, with no per-seat AI add-on.
